Updating This Evening's Storms

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11 PM for the region except those portions of the region under a tornado watch.  Thunderstorms should be into the city around 8:45 or 9 PM, with thunderstorms to the Shore around 10 PM or so.  Gusty winds to 70 mph and some small hail are possible -- but wind is the larger threat with the thunderstorms that are approaching from the west.

As of 7 PM, thunderstorms are approaching the western parts of our area.  A few rogue showers and storms are firing in front of the main line of activity but they are not severe as of this time.  The stronger storms across Central Pennsylvania have resulted in severe thunderstorm warnings being issued with the line.

There were earlier damage reports near Williamsport with the line but reports, so far, have been isolated. That said, the threat for gusty winds remains through the evening as the line marches east at around 40 mph. It's about 90 minutes or so from Philadelphia as of the time of this post, which means storms should get into the city after 8 PM (probably in the 8:30-9 PM timeframe).
