Stepping Down In Temperatures
Radar early this morning shows scattered areas of showers and light rain throughout the region. The cool front responsible for all of this is pushing through Philadelphia as we get going today, with that front gradually reaching the coast over the next couple of hours. Low pressure will organize along the front, enhanced by approaching upper level energy coming in from the west, which will result in the front and surface low slowing down a bit today and lingering over us.
That results in off and on areas of showers, perhaps steadier light rain, and a much cooler day overall compared to the past few. Instead of 80 or 80's, we're looking at temperatures that may fall a bit later today.
We're starting in the mid 60's this morning in Philadelphia...that's about as good as it's going to be through the course of the day. Temperatures hang in the lower and mid 60's through the morning hours, slip back in the afternoon to below 60 in most spots by dinner. Adding to that will be increasing north and northwest winds at 12-20 mph, gusting higher than that. So, compared to a tropical-like feel yesterday we're going to be starting Memorial Day Weekend with Easter-like temperatures by day's end.
