Weather Rewind, April 28th-May 4th, 2013
Temperatures last week averaged a degree below average in the region -- arguably, outside of Monday, the week at large was rather mundane and featured some amazing spring weather. Monday's quarter to three quarters (more at the Shore than in the city) of an inch of rain provided the only precipitation in the region over the course of the week, with the Delaware Valley enjoying sunshine for the balance of the week outside of Sunday's cloudy afternoon.
It was just about a perfect latter half of the week in weather...plenty of sunshine, low humidity, pleasant temperatures. The cooler days (Friday) were chilled at the Shore (50's) but the region by and large still enjoyed nice weather despite the cool down at week's end.
Nationally, April was a very cold month in the Midwest and Great Plains, with temperatures averaging between six and twelve degrees below average in Minnesota and the Dakotas during the month. The bigger story out of this part of the world was the heavy late season snowfall that fell on Wednesday and Thursday across Minnesota and Iowa, bringing as much as a foot and a half of snow to parts of Southern Minnesota, reinforcing a chilled regime that's dominated most of the Spring in the Upper Midwest.
