Forecast for Monday, June 17, 2013

As a trough moves through the region into tonight, there continues to be a threat for a few showers and thunderstorms. Otherwise, a mostly cloudy night is expected.

On Monday, there is a chance for a few isolated thunderstorms as it will be very warm and modestly unstable. However, there is really no forcing mechanism to lift the air closer to the city…so only isolated coverage is anticipated. The best opportunity for organized thunderstorms may setup near the Northern Pennsylvania and Northern New Jersey border with New York. We will continue to update on the threat for thunder on Monday.

On Tuesday, as a cold front moves through, more widespread showers and thunderstorms are possible. A wave of low pressure may develop on the front which would just increase the chance of precipitation. Some locally heavy rainfall is possible and with the flash flood guidance running low due to the wet soil conditions…flash flooding cannot be ruled out.
