Tornado Watch Until 10 PM

A tornado watch is out for the entire Delaware Valley until 10 PM.  Watch extends down to the DC metro area and as far northeast as North Jersey.

As of 3 PM, storms are starting to fire up in a couple of areas. One is to our west in Central Pennsylvania where there have been tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings issued.  This is in association with the main disturbance that is pushing east towards the region.  A second, more scattered area is down in Delaware and  features smaller storms pushing north.

We're still a couple of hours away from this actively impacting our region but the threat for some severe weather does exist.  Even if severe weather does not materialize, the threat for heavy rains and frequent lightning is pretty high with any thunderstorm development across the Mid Atlantic.  There's been quite a bit of lightning in the storms out in Central Pennsylvania and down near Baltimore.

We'll provide another update later on this evening in addition to our forecast, which should be out in a little while.
