Weather Rewind: June 2-8, 2013

Temperatures averaged a degree above average last week -- buoyed by the warmth on Sunday as temperatures nearly hit 90 in Philadelphia on Sunday afternoon.  The balance of the week was relatively normal, if not a bit cooler than average.

The story for the region last week was the rains we picked up -- over five inches of rain in some portions of the region, much of it falling on Friday thanks to the interaction of the transitioning to nontropical Andrea with a frontal boundary as the storm lifted up the East Coast.  We picked up a large chunk of rain during the morning hours on Monday, however, as a cool front approached and sliced through the region.  Some spots picked up nearly an inch from that event as a disturbance rode northeast along the front that pushed through the region.

Andrea's rains were widespread along the coast from Boston southeast through Florida, with many locations picking up between three and seven inches of rain.
