Closing Out August Steamy, But Avoiding 90

Low clouds and fog start the day, gradually giving way to brighter conditions for the midday and afternoon hours...just like the last two days. A disturbance and a frontal boundary will try to slide down into the Mid Atlantic and Northeast this weekend but the front will take the entire weekend to move on through the Delaware Valley. This means an increasing thunder threat as the weekend progresses; however, Saturday is the "nicest" of the three days this weekend.

The best chance for thunderstorms today is west of the city -- and any thunderstorms will be scattered as the higher resolution version of the NAM outlines up above.  Any storm that does fire will produce some localized downpours as the atmosphere is moisture-rich and will increase in moisture richness throughout the weekend...but, the "good" news is that today will be the nicest of the three days.

And it will be humid as dew points push 70.

High temperatures this afternoon will get into the mid 80's in most locations, warmest along I-95 and just southeast. It will feel a few degrees warmer out thanks to that higher humidity.
