Let's Throw A Rumble Or Two Down The Turnpike
The NAM had hinted at these showers and storms popping up and drifting south (we made mention to the shower and storm threat this morning and then subsequently removed it in our 3:30 PM forecast)...and sure enough, here they are, generally working through Scranton and the Poconos but drifting slowly southward. There was a severe cell earlier tonight up near Honesdale but these storms have since weakened a touch but have increased a bit in coverage.
The storms are in association with a weak trough across Upstate New York southwest into West Virginia. Mid and low level flow are pushing these along to the south and southwest. How long they hold together past sunset remains to be determined but our friends in the Lehigh Valley and perhaps Berks County could see a shower or storm, with a lesser risk extending down into the northern/western burbs as we work towards 10 or 11 PM. These shouldn't impact your evening locally and no additional showers should pop ahead of this weak ripple that's triggering the thunder to our north.
