Weather Rewind -- August 4-10, 2013
Temperatures averaged 2.7 degrees below average in Philadelphia last week despite three above average days in Thursday through Saturday. We started off last week on a very nice, calm note on Sunday and Monday before clouding up on Tuesday and Wednesday as a humidity (warm) front pushed through the region, bringing showers and storms on Wednesday and Wednesday night to the area.
While the city did not pick up a lot of rain last week -- just four tenths of an inch -- other spots did cash in. Allentown picked up three inches of rain, Mount Pocono over two and a half. There were some flood warnings out on Friday in parts of the region from rains that soaked the northern half of the area on Thursday night.
Most of the week's storminess was scattered around (see below for Friday's rainfall distribution), with some spots picking up nearly nothing and others getting an inch or two inches of rainfall. Southern Delaware, in particular, was pretty hard hit with storms on Friday evening as parts of Sussex County got over two inches of rain.
For those keeping track with the city for this summer's rainfall, we're now up to 25.54" in our wettest summer on modern record.
