Weather Rewind: September 1-7, 2013

Through the first seven days of September, we're just about as "average" as one can be -- temperatures ended up at average despite some yo-yo in the thermometer over the course of the past seven days. Sunday was our warm day, Monday our soaking day -- the balance of the week was about as ideal as one can expect in September.  We'll include that cool Friday in the mix as temperatures only getting into the lower 70's was a nice makeup for the muggy, tropical feel that Sunday and Monday wrought upon the region.

I also don't think anyone was complaining about having lows in the 50's (and 40's outside of the city) on Friday and Saturday mornings!

Monday's rains were prolific in a few spots -- 1.89" fell in Philadelphia, more than that in the Lehigh Valley, some of the Philadelphia suburbs, and in parts of South Jersey (had as much as four inches in a few spots!).  The tropical torrent ahead of a cool front that slid through the region, timed with a ripple of energy that passed ahead of the front, was largely responsible for that soaking of rain.

Of course, not everyone saw that level of rainfall on Monday -- but it was our soaking to start the month of September where we left summer 2013.
